Each player places a bet on either the Player or the Banker. Then 2 hands are dealt, one for the Player and one for the Banker. It is important to note at this stage that this is just one hand for the Player's side, not a hand dealt to all players.
The Players hand must stand or draw according to a set of pre-defined rules. Basically, the Player hand stands when the cards total 6 to 9, but draws on any other total. A similar thing then happens with the Bankers hand with slightly more elaborate stand/draw rules, factoring in the extra info of what the Players 3rd card is if he drew a card.
You really dont need to worry too much about all that in online bacarrat, as obviously the cards are dealt for you, but as long as you know you're targeting as close to 9 as possible, then at least you'll know what you are cheering for ;) Due to the slight edge of the bankers hand, a small commission is paid on bets of the Bankers hand. Bets on the players hand pay no commission, and are a straight double-your-money shot.

The casino edge is very small in Baccarat, but it still exists (1.36% on Player Bets, and 1.17% of Banker Bets). The small number of betting options means it is very much a game of luck, therefore the skill for the player really comes down to good money management of knowing when to increase bet size and when not to. As a general rule, it is more about trying to get through a good (larger) winning bet when your up in the session, but keep reducing the bet sizes if you are down in the session. Obv if you get that larger winning bet through succussfully, then look to walk away with that in your pocket.
One bet to avoid is betting on a tie. Whilst you do get offered 8-1 odds on the tie, it isnt as good as betting on Player or Banker, as the tie option calculates out to a 9.5% edge for the house.
